Is Thinking Generated by the Brain?
Four arguments for thinking not being generated by the brain, with profound implications for AI and consciousness.
To lead us into the theme of our 2026 MysTech Conference, Dr. Alice Barton shared from her medical and Anthroposophical work The Etheric Heart.
The topic of our 2026 Conference was Becoming Aware of the Etheric, and Dr. Barton’s talk led us directly into taking up this theme. At the end of her presentation, we opened up for Q&A — both about her talk and about the conference.
This event is part of The Monthly MysTech Webinar Series.
Dr. Alice Barton has been studying the work of Rudolf Steiner for over fifty years, since she was a student of art history at Harvard University. While raising her three children, she translated medical lectures given by Rudolf Steiner, then trained as a physician, practiced medicine, and was a professor of medicine — first at Cornell and then at Brown University.
In retirement she has been teaching art history, embryology, and Biblical studies in Austin, Texas, where she moved to help raise her grandchildren.
This webinar led directly into the theme of Becoming Aware of the Etheric, the Tenth Annual MysTech Conference, recorded live August 6–9, 2026. The conference has concluded — and the unedited recordings are open now. They are the live streams exactly as they went out, nothing cut.
