TRANSMUTING TECHNOLOGY

"What Man Speaks to the Stars"

Genetics • Resonance • Eurythmy • BioDynamics • Color • Elementals • Spiritual Science

What is MysTech Conference 2021 about?

MysTech is dedicated to driving positive change for our future by steering the role that technology will play in society and human evolution in the light of spiritual science. The past century has witnessed astonishing advances in technology that have impacted our day-to-day lives, health, and consciousness in profound and unexpected ways. When we consider the impact of technology in the context of our evolution as both physical and spiritual beings, how might it contribute to our future? Will continued advances in technology be a benefit or a burden for the potential of humankind? How must we respond to modern technological developments in order to shape the future towards the good?

In this conference you will gain new insights about the mysteries of technology from the perspectives of spiritual science through the original research of our distinguished speakers across a broad range of fascinating topics. You will also gain a new appreciation for social three-folding, biodynamics,  eurythmy, and more, and learn how these methods and thought-forms can help us to meet the coming challenges of the modern age.

Keynote: Consciously Meeting the Invisibles that Make Tech Work

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Katie Singer will outline the energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, toxic waste and worker hazards involved in conferencing by Zoom. She’ll introduce the rules and regulations that value telecommunications over wildlife, wildlife habitats and public health. Then, with awareness of our digital footprint, we can take steps to reduce it.

Katie Singer writes about nature and technology. Her first book, The Wholeness of a Broken Heart, a novel, explores relationships between the living and the dead before, during and after the Holocaust. Her books about natural family planning include the Garden of Fertility (re-issued by Random House in April 2021) and Honoring Our Cycles. SteinerBooks published An Electronic Silent Spring, about the health and environmental effects of exposure to electromagnetic radiation from devices and telecom infrastructure. Katie’s now completing a book about the ecological impacts of the Internet, electric vehicles, solar power and industrial wind systems–and another about electronics’ fire hazards. She spoke about the Internet’s footprint at the United Nations’ 2018 forum on Science, Technology & Innovation, and, in 2019, on a panel with Dr. Jim Hansen.

Escape from the Robot Within

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Boyd & Daniel

Robots are starting to play many roles in our society: nursing home companions for the elderly, babysitters, self-driving cars, children’s playmates, and many others. Based on in-depth psychological studies, I explore what happens to the human soul and spirit, especially in children, when we treat artificial intelligence as if it were human. My research shows that the more we pretend that machines can be human, the more we will treat people like machines.

Boyd Collins has worked as an online content management specialist for universities, large multinational corporations and consulting companies for nearly three decades. He helped develop the Scholarly Communications Center at Rutgers University, a center for electronic research. Some of the companies he worked for include Accenture and SAIC (now Leidos), one of the leading contractors for U.S. military and intelligence agencies. Later, he became SharePoint Architect for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. In this position, he developed many techniques to enhance user engagement and guide user behavior online. Since his retirement in 2019, he has been researching and writing about the methods used by social media to keep users engaged so that their behavior can be predicted and nudged toward profitable outcomes by platforms such as Facebook and Google. He has published the results of his research in being humanNew View, and Covid Call to Humanity.

The TAO of AI

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Boyd & Daniel

The TAO of AI is about the relationship of the spiritual worlds to the growing artificial intelligence of the externalized material world. As false conceptions leave us free, because we must seek beyond them to truth (according to Steiner), AI aids that freedom-seeking of human beings. By AI extending the false conceptions of the external material world our understanding of thinking and consciousness must ultimately penetrate to the truth. The spiritual worlds are not built on intellectualism, but upon the relationships between beings. Thinking is a spiritual ‘experience’ and this reality has far-reaching importance for understand the dead-thinking of AI. The TAO of AI thus points to the resurrection of thinking from misconception to spiritual experience, a stage where a Rosicrucian may be called a, “Knight of the Golden Stone.”

Daniel Perez is a technologist, a Waldorf school graduate, a philosopher and an Anthroposophist. Biogeometry : Tuning our technological environment to harmonize with the living

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

The presentation will connect the science of biogeometry, its core energy-principle and the methods it offers in particular to correct the negative effects of EMF technology on living organisms with what the presenter’s own journey into a harmonic cosmology intimates about the inner reality of this core principle as vessel of the Logos. The two paths — empirical and cosmological — converge to one central, golden “mean” of dialogue between heaven and earth.

Monique Pommier, MA, PhDE is a Jungian oriented psychospiritual consultant, astrologer, and author of Planetary Exaltations, The Twelvefold Archetype of the Human Soul, and Harmony, the Heartbeat of Creation. Originally from France, she has been living and practicing in the US for thirty years.

Transhumanism’s Challenge

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Doug & Siegward

Transhumanism believes that humanity will soon need to merge with its own creation just in order to survive. Many believe this will greatly enhance our species. Even Rudolf Steiner said that “the welding together of Man and Machine will be an issue for the remainder of our earthly evolution.” How does Anthroposophy meet this challenge?

Douglas R. Smith, Ph.D., has over 40 years of experience in human genetics, DNA sequencing, technology development and bioinformatics. Doug led one of the large-scale sequencing centers that helped decode the human genome and was involved in many other pioneering research and development projects. Doug is keenly interested in understanding the spiritual beings and events that underlie physical phenomena and has been a student of Anthroposophy and Christology for nearly as long as his professional career.

Siegward Elsas

Neurophysiology, Freedom, and the Human Will

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Doug & Siegward

Dr. Elsas will present on the Brain and the Double’s Effects on Human Freedom as a Human Expression of Will. Siegward will talk about the electrical activity in the brain in relation to freedom and will. This leads us to the physiologic basis for the Ahrimanic double in the electrical activity of the brain within the context of anthroposophy and neurophysiology.

Siegward M. Elsas, M.D. is a specialist in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. From 1984-1990 he studied medicine at the anthroposophically inspired private University Witten-Herdecke in Germany, with a special interest in phenomenological Goethean natural science. After this he conducted research in neuroscience at the University of California Berkeley and San Francisco and trained in neurology and clinical neurophysiology at the University of California Los Angeles. From 2002 to 2010, he was Assistant Professor of Neurology at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland Oregon, where he treated patients in the epilepsy center and conducted research of mind-body and botanical treatments for epilepsy. Since June 2012, he has built up the neurology service at the Ita Wegman Klinik / Klinik Arlesheim in Switzerland where he also conducts research on a mind body intervention in epilepsy and an ayurvedic botanical treatment for M. Parkinson.

Fear and Trembling: Technology and the Waldorf School

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Eugene & Jennifer

In his nearly fifty years as a Waldorf educator, Eugene Schwartz has been a witness to — and a participant in — many encounters between Waldorf schools and evolving electronic technologies. As one who has made pioneering efforts to introduce an interest in technology into the Waldorf classroom and to bring Waldorf pedagogy onto the Internet, Eugene has frequently been met with virulent opposition from leading Waldorf practitioners. He will discuss the way in which the Waldorf movement’s decades of antagonism towards technology may have inadvertently created the perfect circumstances for the Waldorf schools’ sudden acceptance of distance learning. Eugene will explore how the ineluctable decline of independent Waldorf schools over the next few years may be the precondition for a new and redemptive relationship to technology.

A graduate of Columbia University, Eugene Schwartz was a class teacher and high school teacher at the Green Meadow Waldorf School and Director of Teacher Training at the Sunbridge Institute. A former Fellow of the Carnegie Institute for the Advancement of Teaching, Eugene has served as a consultant and mentor in schools worldwide and has lectured on education at Harvard, Columbia University, Brigham Young University, University of Tennessee Medical School, and the Aspen Institute. He currently trains hundreds of teachers a year through the Online Conferences for Grades 1-8 and is teaching main lessons via Zoom.

Contrasting Human Futures and the Myth of Techno-Transhumanism

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Q/A with Eugene & Jennifer

We are at a critical point today in research into human futures. Two divergent streams show up in human futures conversations: evolutionary human-centered futures and de-humanizing techno-topian futures. Which direction we choose will also decide the fate of Earth futures in the sense of Earth’s dual role as home for humans, and habitat for life.

Jennifer M. Gidley, PhD, is an internationally renowned psychologist, educator, and futures researcher, and Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS, Sydney. She is a global thought leader and advocate for human-centred futures in an era of hi-tech hype and hubris.
Former President of the World Futures Studies Federation (2009-2017), UNESCO and UN partner and global peak body for futures studies, Jennifer led a network of world leading futures researchers from over 60 countries. Previously, she founded and pioneered a Steiner school in Australia (1984-94), was an academic researcher at four Australian Universities (1995-2012), and now speaks and consults in Asia, Europe/UK, the Middle East and the USA.

Radiesthesia and Radionics as Bridge to Mechanical Occultism

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

John will provide a tour through the psychotronic principles of physical radiesthesia, radionics, & shape-power. Functioning as mind matter interfacing “technologies”, R&R has served as possible initial steppingstones upon which humanity may learn to extend and amplify their intent beyond their physical vessel with the aid of mechanical and symbolic instruments. This presentation will also suggest possible relationships between Steiner’s Refined Breathing and Mechanical Occultism.

John Ech serves as operator and archivist of Aether Force – an educational movement of the qualitative and aetheric sciences that has developed strong relations with the Borderland Research Foundation, SVP Institute, USPA, & the American Dowsers Society. In the past several years John has presented lectures on the vibratory sciences and is also currently moderating the Beginner and Intermediate courses for MysTech. John’s main practices include radionics & homeopathy, mental & physical radiesthesia, cymatic imaging, projective geometry modelling, and biodynamic gardening as well as continually researching the common ground within the works of aether science pioneers such as Tesla, Keely, Russell, & Steiner to bridge to a new paradigm.

Intro to Cymatics

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

The term cymatics comes from the Greek word cyma which means wave. It was coined in the 1950s by Hans Jenny a medical doctor and artist in Dornach. It is a new approach in research that combines art and science. With this approach it is possible to come to a deep understanding of the phenomena of sound and matter up to the formative forces of live. In this presentation we will have an overview about how the Cymatic approach evolved over time starting with Ernst Florence Chladni to nowadays research and practical applications. The lecture will be supplemented by various live experiments and demonstrations.

Dr. Ralf Tita works since 2009 in the “House of Singing” which was founded by Atmani in 2000. He organized the World Cymatics Congress in Germany in 2014 and is part of the faculty of the “School of Cymatics”. He is the publisher of the Mani Verlag and is on the Board of Directors of the Orphideum.

Is Technology a Necessary Evil?

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Surely, Steiner must have felt that technology was evil, and its use should be minimized? Haven’t we gone too far already? Will Ahriman use technology to destroy humanity? In this presentation, Aaron will discuss Steiner’s ideas about Ahriman and technology. He will compare Steiner’s views to those of other 20th century European philosophers, including Karl Jaspers, Martin Heidegger, Hannah Arendt, Max Weber, and Ernst Cassirer. Steiner was certainly not alone to see the march of technology as a challenge to our humanity. But did Steiner see it as necessary to our evolution?

Aaron French, Ph.D., currently works at the Universität Erfurt in Germany. Aaron does research in the history of science, modernity, Western esotericism, German Romanticism, and science and technology studies. His dissertation focused on “Disenchanting and Re-Enchanting German Modernity” with emphasis on the German intellectuals Max Weber and Rudolf Steiner. In this talk, Aaron will explore what Steiner’s spiritual science had to say about the coming Technological Age as a necessity for human evolution.

Etheric Forces Workshop

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

When we use the word “force” we normally associate it with something like a mechanical force. So, it’s easy to speak of magnetic “forces” because we experience the mechanical force of attraction or repulsion with magnets. Speaking of electrical “forces” becomes more difficult: Do we really mean the weak attraction between charged bodies or is there something else? So, if it is already more problematic to use “force” for electricity, then is it appropriate at all to use it for the “etheric”? Do we need to change our concept of forces when thinking of it? In this contribution I will address this question and then try to describe an approach to the etheric which might be more appropriate – at least to my way of thinking – based on phenomenological science.

Born 1953 in Germany, Johannes Kühl studied physics in Hamburg and Göttingen. After one year of research at the science section at the Goetheanum he taught physics, chemistry and mathematics at the Waldorf school Stuttgart Uhlandshöhe. From 1996 to 2020 he was the leader of the Natural Science Section of the School for Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum and a member of the collegium. His research interests are Goetheanistic physics, the understanding of quantum physics, the relationship of technology to human culture – and to Anthroposophy.

Q/A with Brian, Robert & David

Exploring the Cain stream through history to building Solomon’s Temple. The Cain and Abel streams brought different gifts into human evolution. Only their creative cooperation can help us build a cosmic temple that truly speaks to human spirit, soul, and body – shaping the future human being. Just as ancient mystery temples and Gothic cathedrals have shaped us, the First Goetheanum created by Rudolf Steiner embodies what we must strive to comprehend and carry forward – the Cosmic Image of the Human Being, bearing wisdom, love and free creativity. Both David and Robert went to the Holy Land and carefully considered the relationship of the site of Solomon’s Temple to the deeds of Christ. The karmic history of some great individualities in Technology in relationship with other great initiates of Christian Esotericism will be traced.

Brian Gray has been a student of Anthroposophy since 1976, and of astrology since 1966. He has been a teacher of subjects related to Anthroposophy and star wisdom at Rudolf Steiner College for 38 years. Brian is also the author of star wisdom articles (published in the Journal for Star Wisdom) and is a presenter of several video courses on WiseCosmos.org

Robert Schiappacasse

Building the Temple of the Future Human Being

Robert Schiappacasse has been involved for many years as a national leader in the Waldorf and independent school movement, serving in leadership roles and as an advisor for North American Waldorf schools on school administration, organization, and governance. Our Technological Age Requires That We Partner with the Etheric Christ and Divine Sophia

Individual Recording

Audio & Transcript Available

Rudolf Steiner was emphatic that the Antichrist Impulse – manifesting for example in extending technology over human life itself, such as integrating various human energies with mechanical energies – is not for us to fight against. Steiner said that will be the exactly wrong reaction. These technologies are sure to come – they will not fail to appear – because such developments are important and essential to achieve the purposes of earthly evolution.
In contrast, the Christ Impulse – manifesting for example in human spiritual forces being made mobile enough to master life in relation to illness and death – requires a sufficient number of people to be prepared in the right way so that they know how and when to partner with the spiritual world. What we must be concerned with, says Steiner, is that as many human beings as possible individually and collectively take selfless responsibility for seeing to it that the forthcoming technologies are implemented in alignment with the great aims of earthly evolution and the course of world history.
How? To begin with, technological advancements must be synchronized and harmonized with commensurate spiritual scientific developments in fully conscious experience and partnership with Christ in the etheric realm and Sophia in the cosmic streams of Pisces and Virgo.

Lelan Harris is a founder of Wise Cosmos that is a world-wide community of researchers and students endeavoring to unite the spiritual element within the human being to the spiritual in the universe. Most frequent questions and answers
MysTech is a non-profit Anthroposophical organization with Spiritual Science at its foundation. Its members come from all walks of life, all religions, races, and nationalities and include leading scientists, engineers, artists, cultural agents, religious professionals and organizations.
MysTech was born out of the need to bring people and organizations together who have as their ideal a future moral technology that is built to support the cosmic potential of the human being rather than the Promethean path of technology that chains us to the physical. MysTech helps bring this about by constructing a platform that all can come together and use equally to support and promote each other’s work, projects, and programs.
The main reason is to further our work through human interaction – cross-pollination of ideas, finding collaborators, and inspiring each other towards new breakthroughs. A secondary goal is to overcome through knowledge and insights the fear that is building as this Technological Age advances.
All the presentations are being recorded and posted promptly so that anyone can participate from anywhere and at any time.
The recordings will be available for at least a year. By registering now you can have access to all the presentations at any time it’s convenient for you. Some will register even after the conference has closed just to view the recordings.
For many, watching live video for so many hours in a day may be exhausting. COVID has accustomed many to long hours on Zoom but for others this format with some sensory deprivations may be exhausting. We recommend using the breaks to go outside, to walk vigorously for example, before the next session. You might find you need to skip a session and watch its recording later. That will be OK.
