Awakening to the Great Challenge Posed by the Incarnation of Ahriman

The Collective Crossing of the Threshold and Facing the Mystery of Evil
Drawing on Rudolf Steiner’s prophetic indications of Ahriman’s impending physical incarnation “in the not-too-distant future” (Nov. 1919), this presentation explores the evolving mystery of evil through the lens of The Representative of Humanity sculptural group. We will examine the long-prepared groundwork for Ahriman’s influence: the rise of scientific materialism, the subjugation of culture and spirit to economic forces, divisive nationalism and racial hatred, fundamentalist distortions of the Gospels, and the widespread erosion of truth through misinformation.

Particular focus will be given to the battle within the realm of intelligence, contrasting the Michaelic and Ahrimanic approaches. We will consider the human and cosmic tension between sub-nature and supernature, and reflect on the spiritual significance of the emerging Noosphere shaped by the internet, the World Wide Web, AI, and the imminent advent of Artificial General and Superintelligence. The dangers of Ahriman-inspired Transhumanism and Post-Humanism will be weighed against the promise of Etheric-Moral Technology as a redemptive alternative.

In light of these far-reaching developments, occurring within the centuries-long preparation for Ahriman’s incarnation, we ask: What can those who are awake and watchful do? Among the essential remedies are: a conscious orientation toward Christ’s Second Coming in the Etheric; a living connection with the Archangel Michael, now risen to the rank of Archai; and the spiritualization of human intelligence through free inner development.

Humanity’s collective crossing of the threshold calls for a new spiritual relationship grounded in freedom, even as Ahriman seeks to ensnare human thinking and divert it toward the Eighth Sphere in alliance with other adversarial powers. Meeting this challenge is vital to the future of human evolution, and to the long-term task of transforming the Earth from a “Planet of Wisdom” into the future “Planet of Love.”
